For this easy Colombian guacamole you'll only need 7 ingredients and 10 minutes. This guacamole gets its heat from hot sauce, as is customary in Colombia.
Servings 4happy people who can eat a lot of guacamole
Ingredients
2big and ripe avocados
1tomato, diced finely
1/2white or yellow onion, diced finely
juice of 1-2 limes
2heaped tablespoons finely chopped fresh cilantro
1/2tspsalt
drops of hot sauce, to taste(in Colombia often called "salsa de ají picante". Replace with tabasco)
Instructions
Prepare the avocadosHalve the avocados, take the pit out and scoop out the flesh with a spoon. Place in a mixing bowl and mash with a fork until smooth
Mix togetherAdd the rest of the ingredients: diced onion and tomato, chopped cilantro, lime juice, salt and hot sauce. Mix well, taste and adjust seasoning if necessary
ServeServe immediately or place in the refrigerator until using. Serve as a dipping sauce during a barbecue, as a side dish, or with plantain chips
Notes
This guacamole tastes best when eaten the same day. You could keep the dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for an extra day.
Leave out hot sauce for a non-spicy version.
Replace hot sauce for chili pepper or dried chili flakes if hot sauce is not available to you.
