Shaved ice smothered in fruit syrup, topped with the most delicious fresh fruits and condensed milk. A cholado is refreshing because of the shaved ice, sweet because of the different types of fruit, and creamy because of the condensed milk. Notes
Vegan condensed milk:Place 3 cups of coconut milk (not the canned one) with 2,5 tablespoons of white sugar in a small boiling pot. Bring to a boil and keep softly boiling for 45 minutes until the milk is reduced to 1/3 of the original volume. Stir regularly. Let cool to room temperature and place in a container in the refrigerator until use. It will be more liquid than regular condensed milk, but it will set a bit more after chilling in the fridge or even the freezer. Leftover fruit syrupAny leftover blackberry syrup or lulo syrup will be delicious in yogurt or with ice cream.
